IPL 2019 : Player to watch out from each IPL teams
The most awaited Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to start from 23rd March when defending champions Chennai Super Kings face Royal Challengers Bangalore at Chennai.
There are number of players who will be watched closely. A lot of them have shown their potentials and are eager to shine bright in this tournament.
Following are player to watch out for from each team who will be watches closely this time around :
Kolkata Knight Riders : Andre Russel
Andre Russel has been a key member of the KKR squad since quite a long time now. The hard hitting West Indian allrounder has scored 890 runs at an average of 26.96. His highest score in the tournament is unbeaten 88. His explosive batting skills is an asset to have in the lower middle order for sure. He is one of the players in the squad who can single handedly win matches for his team with his batting as well as bowling capabilities. His athleticism in the field can’t be underestimated. He can provide the captain with some economic overs in middle phase of the innings and pickup wickets at crucial time.
Mumbai Indians : Quinton De Kock
The South African wicketkeeper batsman is a new inclusion to the Mumbai squad. As the MI skipper Rohit Sharma has decided to open the innings this season, most probable his opening parnter will be De Kock. The left hander De Kock is known for his responsible batting at the top order will surely strengthen top order for Mumbai. Players like Rohit Sharma, Krunal Pandya and Kierorn Pollard can take the risk and play aggresively while De Kock will look to build the innings and support from another end.
Royal Challengers Bangalore : Shimron Hetmyer
Shimron Hetmyer is one of the prospect to watch this season. Hetmyer shined bright with the bat in the series against India where West Indies lost by 1-3. He will have a key role to play in star-studded batting lineup of RCB including the likes of Virat Kohli and AB De Villiers. He scored 259 runs from 5 matches with an excellent strike rate of 140 in the series against India. His experience of playing in Indian conditions will surely help him a lot for this tournament even if he is debuting in IPL.
Rajasthan Royals : Sanju Samson
The product of Indian U19 team and mentored by veteran Rahul Dravid, Sanju Samson is roaring to show his talent this season. Ever since he debuted against Kings XI Punjab in 2013 from Kolkata Knight Riders, he has been improving his skills and techniques. He has done a good job in age level tournaments he has played so fat. In the 2013 Under-19 Asia Cup held in UAE, Samson’s century from just 87 balls helped India beat Pakistan to win the trophy. A fine half century in the group stage match of the 2014 Under-19 World Cup against traditional rivals Pakistan guided India to a winning total of 262. India faced defeat after Pakistan reduced India to 64/4. Samson led India’s recovery with Sarfaraz Khan (74) to help India beat the eternal enemy. Even Shane Warne has predicted that Samson can be the Player of the Tournament this time around.
Sunrisers Hyderabad : Rashid Khan
The name Rashid Khan needs to introduction. This 20 year old bowler from Afghanistan has already proven his worth with his excellent performance in previous season. In February 2017, he was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for the 2017 Indian Premier League (IPL) for 4 crores. He was also amongst the two first ever Afghan players to be selected for the IPL. He made his IPL debut in the opening fixture of the 2017 tournament, taking two wickets, as the Sunrisers Hyderabad won the match by 35 runs. He finished the tournament as the sixth-highest wicket-taker with 17 wickets from 14 matches. Apart from his wicket taking abilities, he can contribute with batting too. Rashid has given some crucial cameos in multiple instances to take his team to victory.
Delhi Capitals : Sandeep Lamichhane
Just like Rashid Khan, this young guy from Nepal has been a sensation in recent years. Having played almost all top global franchise tournaments, he has impressed all eyes so far. Sandeep came into limelight after his performance in 2016 U19 World Cup in Bangladesh. Lamichhane ended up as the second highest wickettaker in the tournament with 17 wickets. Since then, Sandeep hasn’t had to look back. He played in Australia under the mentorship of Michael Clarke and then got chance in IPL 2018 becoming the first Nepali player to get IPL contract. He played for Melbourne Stars in Bigh Bash League where he picked up 11 wickets from 7 matches.
Chennai Super Kings : Suresh Raina
Also known as Mr. IPL, Suresh Raina is a dangerous T20 batsman. He has been very consistent in almost all the edition of IPL till now. He has smashed 4985 runs from 176 matches at an strike rate of 138 placing him at the top spot in the list of most run scorers in IPL history. Raina has won many games for Chennai Super Kings on his own. His calculated risk taking abilities will be a serious threat to the opposition. The left hander will be looking to continue the same performance and help his team lift the cup for the 4th time.
Kings XI Punjab : Sam Curran
Sam Curran grew up in England and played for Surrey at the U-15, U-17, and U-19 levels before breaking in to the England team. He was a part of the English U-19 side in the Under-19 World Cup and was one of their star players as he took seven wickets and scored 201 runs. The English all rounder has shown his potentials when last time India toured England. His allround ability as a batsman and bowler lead England to a series win against India.
In the first Test at Edgbaston he took 4/74 in the first innings, including the wickets of India’s top three batsmen, and scored 63 in England’s second innings, and was awarded Player of the Match. He returned in place of the injured Chris Woakes for the fourth test, where he top scored in England’s first innings with 78. He was named England’s Player of the Series against India, having contributed 272 runs and 11 wickets in England’s 4-1 series victory.
