Delhi defeat SRH to face CSK in Qualifier 2
Delhi Capitals defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 2 wickets in a thrilling encounter to secure a place in second qualifier. Delhi will now face Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in second qualifier the winner of which will compete against Mumbai Indians in the final of VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019.
With Delhi requiring 12 runs of last 2 overs with Rutherford and Rishabh Pant at the crease, it looked an easy win for the Capitals. Bhuvneswor Kumar bowled the penultimate over of the inning as he picked the wickets of both Pant and Rutherford. Rutherford was caught by Mohammad Nabi in the first ball of 19th over while Pant was out for 49 after he hit a six in the 3rd ball of the same over.
Delhi needed 5 runs from last over that was bowled by Khaleel Ahmed. Khaleel bowled a wide ball followed by a single. Third ball was a dot while Keemo Paul took a single in the fourth ball. The drama continued as Amit Mishra was out obstructing the field as Capitals needed 2 runs off the last ball. Keemo Paul hit a boundary off the last ball to give Delhi a scintillating win.
The second qualifier between Chennai and Delhi will be played at Visakhapatnam on 10th May. Chennai had lost to Mumbai in the first qualifier as Mumbai are already into the finals to be played at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium at Hyderabad.
