England whitewash Australia with Butler's ton
England completed a 5-0 whitewash against Australia as Jos Butler scored an unbeaten ton in the 5th ODI of the series at Manchester on Sunday. This is England'sfirst 5-0 series sweep of Australia in any format in more than 140 years of international men's matches between the arch-rivals.
Having won the toss and elected to bat first, Australia were allout for 205 runs. Travis Head was the top scorer for Australia with 56 runs at the top of the order while D'Arcy Short (47) and Alex Carey (44) contributed their part. Moeen Ali was pick of the bowlers for England as he finished with the figures of 4-64 from 8.4 overs.
Chasing a target of 206 runs, Englandwere once struggling at 27-4 and 114-8. Jos Butler and Adil Rashid put on 81 runs for ninth wicket to take England closer to the victory. And it was the brilliant knock from the bat of Butler which made sure that England completed a 5-0 whitewash.
