India U19 Hammer Nepal U19 By 171 Runs
On the back of Yashasvi Jaiswal’s sparkling century & Simran Singh’s counter-attacking 82, the Indian U19 team accumulated a mammoth total of 304 in their allotted 50 overs which turned out to be a tough mountain to climb for the Himalayan nation as they failed to put up a fight. India U19 started off their Asia Cup campaign in the most convincing manner possible by thumping the Nepalese team by a heavy margin of 171 runs.
As already mentioned, Jaiswal was the chief architect behind India’s huge total. He scored 104 runs at a strike rate of 92 without getting disturbed by the Nepalese bowling line-up. He was ably supported by Simran Singh who launched an onslaught on the opposition bowling line-up. Simran, on his way to 82 off just 61 balls, struck 6 fours & 3 sixes. Some quick-fire batting by Badoni & Jangra towards the end helped India to go pass the 300 run mark.
Bhim Sharki was, undoubtedly, the best bowler today for Nepal. He finished with figures of 4/42 in his 7 overs. Rasid Khan also bowled well to pick up 2 wickets whereas Kamal Airee & Sagar Dhakal scalped 1 wicket apiece. The Nepalese bowling line-up didn’t live up to the expectations as they’re a very good bowling side traditionally.
Nepal were never really in the chase as they kept on losing the wickets at regular intervals throughout the innings. All the top-4 batsmen got decent starts but none could capitalize on their starts. Captain Asif Sheikh & Rohit Paudel scored 25 & 24 runs respectively. They had a partnership of 36 which was the biggest partnership of the innings. Desai & Tyagi both took 3 wickets each to restrict the Nepalese team for a paltry 133 in the 37th over.
India would be more than elated after starting the tournament on such a high note while Nepal would look to sort out their issues before the next match. India will face UAE tomorrow whereas Nepal will get a day off before facing Afghanistan on Monday.
