Lungi Ngidi ruled out of IPL due to injury
MS Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings faced a huge blow just before few days for the start of the Indian Premier League(IPL) as South African pacer Lungi Ngidi has been ruled out of the tournament because of injury.
Ngidi suffered from the left side strain during fifth one-day international against Sri Lanka. Ngidi was a consistent performer for CSK in previous edition of IPL where he bagged 11 wickets from 7 matches.
Defending champions Chennai Super Kings will play the opening match of the IPL against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the MA Chidambaram stadium on March 23.
South Africa team manager, Dr Mohammed Moosajee confirmed : "Lungi felt discomfort while bowling during the last ODI against Sri Lanka at Newlands and immediately stopped bowling. Further scans revealed a Grade II muscle strain which will need up to four weeks of rest followed by a rehab programme leading up to the World Cup."
