Mumbai qualify for playoffs with a super over win over Hyderabad
Mumbai Indians defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in Super Over to seal off a place in playoffs of the ongoing VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL).
Mumbai Indians finished on 162/5 in their first innings courtesy to an unbeaten 69 by Quinton de Kock. Skipper Rohit Sharma made 24 while Surya Kumar Yadav scored 23 runs. In form Hardik Pandya could not bat long as he was caught by Mohammad Nabi off Bhuvneswor Kumar for his 10 ball 18. Khaleel Ahmed finished with the figures of 3-42 from his quota of 4 overs while Bhuvneswor Kumar and Mohammad Nabi shared a wicket each.
Inspired by Manish Pandey's unbeaten 71, SRH nearly pulled off a win. With 7 runs required to win in last ball of the innings, Manish Pandey smashed a six off Hardik Pandya over wide long-on to take the game to Super Over. Manish along with Nabi added 49 runs for the sixth wicket before Nabi was out on the fourth ball of the last over.
Mumbai's goto man Jasprit Bumrah bowled a good Super Over conceeding just 8 runs. Hyderabad couldn't play all 6 deliveries as Manish was runout in the first ball and Nabi was bowled in the fourth ball.
Mumbai scored 9 runs in just 3 balls as Hardik smashed a six in the very first ball of Super Over by Rashid Khan. A single in second ball and a couple in third ball made sure that Mumbai secure a place in playoffs with one game to play.
