Rajasthan end their losing streak, Bangalore face 4th consecutive loss
Rajasthan Royals ended their losing streak as they defeat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 7 wickets at Jaipur. This is Rajasthan’s first win in 4 matches while Royal Challengers are yet to win a match this season of IPL.
Rajasthan won the toss and invited Bangalore to bat first. Wicketkeeper batsman Parthiv Patel was the top scorer for RCB with 67 runs off 41 balls which included 9 fours and a six. Marcus Stoinis chipped in with 28 ball 31 towards the end. Shreyas Gopal was the pick of the bowlers for RR as he finished with the figures of 12/3 which included the big wickets of Virat Kohli and AB De Villiers. This is the second time Gopal has got the wickets of Kohli and AB in IPL.
RR in reply got off to a good start with Jos Butler and Ajinkya Rahane. Butler continued his good form with the bat as he scored 59 runs from 43 balls with 8 fours and a six. Steve Smith looks good for his 31 ball 38 while Rahul Tripathi remained unbeaten on 34 runs from 23 balls with 3 fours and a six.
The losing captain Virat Kohli said after the match : “Today, we were more competitive, but we were 15-20 short with the bat. I thought 160 was competitive, but with the dew factor, 15 runs more would’ve been more challenging. Wasn’t easy to get the boundaries in the 2nd innings, but if we make that many mistakes (dropped catches), then we will fall on the losing side. In a tournament like IPL, when you have no momentum, then these things can happen.”
