RCB keep their playoff hopes alive with AB de Villiers' 82*
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have kept their playoff hopes alive with a blistering unbeaten 82 by AB de Villiers as they beat Kings XI Punjab by 17 runs. Man of the Match de Villiers smashed 82 runs off 44 balls including 3 fours and 7 sixes.
Kings XI Punjab won the toss and invited RCB to bat first. Bangalore lost skipper Virat Kohli early for 13 runs before Parthiv Patel and AB added 36 runs for the second wicket. Parthiv scored a 24 ball 43 with 7 fours and 2 sixes. RCB lost two quick wickets of Moeen Ali and Akshdeep Nath. AB then added unbeaten 121 runs with Marcus Stoinis to take the team total to 202/4 in their allotted 20 overs. Stoinis remained unbeaten on 46 runs off 34 balls including 2 fours and 2 sixes.
Punjab in reply started off quickly with KL Rahul and Chris Gayle. Gayle was caught by de Villiers off Umesh Yadav for 23 runs. Rahul smashed 42 runs off 27 balls which included 7 fours and a six. Mayank Agarwal made a 21 ball 35. The wicketkeeper batsman Nicolos Pooran brought back Punjab in the game with his 28 ball 46 which included a four and 5 sixes but wasn't enough to take his team to victory.
