Watson shines in final as CSK lift IPL for third time
Chennai Super Kings chased down the target of 179 in 18.3 overs against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the finals of the Indian Premier League (IPL) to lift their third IPL title. Shane Watson was the star for Chennai with an unbeaten century.
Chennai invited Hyderabad to bat first after winning the toss. Sunrisers posted a total of 178/6 from their 20 overs. Skipper Kane Williamson was the top scorer for them with 47 runs while Yusuf Pathan scored 25 ball 45 in the back half of the innings.
Chasing the target of 179 runs, Chennai lost the Faf Du Plesis early for just 10 runs. Watson then added 117 runs for second wicket with Suresh Raina. Raina was out for 32 runs from 24 balls. Watson along with Ambati Rayudu took CSK to win as Watson remained unbeaten on 117 runs off 57 balls.
