West Indies thrash Pakistan by 7 wickets
West Indies started their ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 campaign with a comprehensive victory over Pakistan at Nottingham on Friday. Inspired by a four fer from Oshane Thomas, West indies defeated Pakistan by 7 wickets in their opening encounter of the tournament.
West Indies won the toss and elected to field first. Pakistan were bundled out for mere 105 runs in 21.4 overs. Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam scored 22 runs each for Pakistan. Oshane Thomas was the star with the ball for West Indies as he finished with the figures of 27-4 from 5.4 overs. Skipper Jason Holder picked up 3 wickets while Andre Russell and Cottrell chippd with with 2 and 1 wickets respectively.
West Indies in reply chased down the target quite comprehensively with Chris Gayle scoring a half century at the top. Gayle smashed 50 runs off 34 ball which included 6 fours and 3 sixes. Nicholas Pooran remained unbeaten on 34 runs. Mohammad Amir picked up 3 wickets for Pakistan.
